The Gigcaster 5 is able to receive USB audio from individual DAW (audio software) tracks. This is useful if you would like to have control over each DAW track's audio using the Gigcaster 5's channel faders, EQ, effects and more. This article will guide through the setup.

Gigcaster 5 Version |
Be sure that the Gigcaster is operating at the latest version available. This can be found under "Gigcaster GCS-5 System Program" https://www.boss.info/global/products/gigcaster_5/downloads/.
Driver Install |
The Gigcaster uses a dedicated audio driver that needs to be installed for multitracking mode. This can be found https://www.boss.info/global/products/gigcaster_5/downloads/.
Note to Mac users: Install the driver labeled: "Gigcaster GCS-5 (MTK-RECORD) Driver."

- Disconnect the Gigcaster 5's USB connection from the computer.
- On the Gigcaster 5's home screen, touch the menu icon on the top right.
- Touch SETUP and then touch USB.
- Set the AUDIO MODE to "MTK-RECORD" and then touch the home button on the top right to return to the home screen.
- Connect the Gigcaster 5 to the computer via USB.

- Open the DAW or audio software and select "GCS-5" as the audio device within the software.
- When selecting a track's audio output in the DAW, select the USB output appropriate for the Gigcaster 5 channel destination.
Here's how a DAW or audio software will "see" the Gigcaster 5's USB channels go out and how the Gigcaster 5's USB channels are received:- Out 1-2: USB Channel
- Out 3-4: MAIN Channel
- Out 5-6: Channel 1 (Note: Turn on "USB AUX IN." See below)
- Out 7-8: Channel 2 (Note: Turn on "USB AUX IN." See below)
- Out 9-10: Instrument Channel (Note: Turn on "USB AUX IN." See below)
- Out 11-12: Sound Pad Channel

The USB AUX IN sets whether to input USB audio signals as auxiliary inputs (AUX IN) for Channel 1, Channel 2 and the INSTRUMENT channel. These are off by default.
Here's how to turn on USB AUX IN:

- Touch <GENERAL> and then set the "USB AUX IN" to the ON position.

- If you want to send a DAW track's audio to the MAIN Channel on the Gigcaster 5, select "Out 3-4" as the output destination for the track in the DAW.
- If you want to send a DAW track's audio to Channel 2 on the Gigcaster 5, select "Out 7-8" as the output destination for the track in the DAW.
