On the HPi-50e, it is possible to permanently transpose a song recorded as a "standard MIDI file".*
Here's how you can transpose any saved MIDI files permanently:
1) Select the song that you want to transpose (from your USB flash drive, or from the "favorites" section of the internal piano memory), so that it is showing on the screen
2) Press the [Lesson] button
3) scroll to "Song Editor", and press the "o" button to enter that menu
4) Press the "o" button to enter into the "Note/Measure" menu.
5) Scroll down to "transpose", and press the "o" button to select
6) Select the following settings:
- From: "1" (This means the transposition will begin starting at measure 1)
- For: "All" (This means you will transpose ALL of the measure of the song)
- Part: "All" (This means that all parts recorded on the MIDI file will be transposed together)
- Bias: Select the number that corresponds to how many "half steps" you want to transpose the song (either up or down) For example. If your song is in C currently, and you want it in the key of D, select "2".
7) Press the "o" button to "execute" this transposition.
8) Press the "X" button to return to the editing menu
9) Press the "X" button again to prompt the Save screen
10) Select the destination you'd like to save the song under "media" (USB or Favorites"
11) Use the down arrows to select the "save destination" spot. If will automatically suggest an open spot; however, if you want to replace your old recording - you can reselect the original song you're changing so that you replace the old key version with the new key version.
12) Press the down arrow again to change the "song name" if desired.
13) Press the "o" button to execute this save
14) Press the "X" button 2 more times to return to the main screen
*Please note, it is NOT possible; however, to permanently transpose an audio file using the Hpi-50e.
