LX-17, LX-7: How to Play a Tone Specified from a DAW on the Piano Keyboard

The tones you play with the keyboard of the LX-17 and LX-7 can be selected from the panel or from an external MIDI application, such as a DAW. However, if you specify the tone by sending MIDI messages from a DAW, the sound played from the piano keyboard will depend on the SMF Play Mode setting.

If you want to play the piano with the tone specified from the DAW, perform the following:

• Send Bank Select (CC00, CC32) and Program Change messages from the DAW via MIDI Channel 4
  Refer to "Tone List" in the DP603 / FP-10 / GP607 / HP / KF-10 / LX / RP102 MIDI Implementation for specific Bank Selects and Program Changes.
• Set the SMF Play Mode to "Internal":
  1. Simultaneously press the [Ambience] button and [Brilliance] button.
     The unit is in Function mode.
  2. Use the [◀] [▶] buttons to select "SMF Play Mode".
  3. Use the [–] [+] buttons to select "Internal".
  4. Simultaneously press the [Ambience] button and [Brilliance] button to exit Function mode.
