The WL-T transmitter is compatible with standard guitars, including Stratocaster, Telecaster, Les Paul, SG, and electric acoustic guitar types.
Guitars with special output specifications may produce no sound or may not be physically compatible with the WL-T. The following cases and remedies are provided below.
Some guitars equipped with active pickups
Symptom: No sound is produced. Guitar audio includes a thumping sound.
Cause: In some active circuit guitars, the ring and sleeve wiring of the TRS jack is reversed. The WL-T requires tip = audio, sleeve = ground, and ring = battery ground.
Remedy: Try remedy A or remedy B shown in the figures below.
Some guitars on which installation is not possible
Symptom: The WL-T cannot be physically installed on the guitar.
Cause: Installation requires a cylindrical space of at least 18.5 mm in diameter and 5 mm deep around the mounting jack.
Remedy: Try remedy B shown in the figures above.
YAMAHA Silent Guitar
Symptom: No sound is produced. The guitar is not powered.
Cause: The electrical wiring has special specifications that require an adapter connection.
Remedy: Try remedy A or remedy B shown in the figures above.
Instruments with a stereo 1/4-inch phone type (TRS) OUTPUT jack
Symptom: Only the L-side signal is output.
Cause: The WL-T has monaural specifications and outputs only the L-side (tip-side) signal.
Remedy: No remedy is available due to the specifications of the WL-T.
If remedies A and B do not resolve the issue, follow the steps below.
- Remove the batteries or disconnect the power adapter from the guitar.
- Attach the jack adapter plug to the transmitter and connect it to the guitar.
