The VH-14D hi-hat requires Roland TD-27 System Program version 1.11 or later. If your TD-27 is on an earlier version, see "TD-27: How to Update the System Program" for update instructions.
After updating and connecting the VH-14D, calibrate it on the TD-27:
- Press the [SYSTEM] button.
- Use the cursor buttons to select "TRIGGER," and press the [ENTER] button.
- Use the cursor buttons to select "HI-HAT," and press the [ENTER] button.
- Press the [F5] (OFFSET) button.
- Loosen the clutch screw of the top cymbal and let it sit on the bottom cymbal.
Do NOT touch the hi-hats or the pedal. - Press the [F5] (EXECUTE) button.
The "VH Offset" parameter is set automatically (approx. 3 seconds). - Press the [KIT] button to return to the DRUM KIT screen.
- Raise the top cymbal and tighten the clutch screw, leaving proper space between the top and bottom cymbals. See the VH-14D Owner's Manual for details:
Also check that the top and bottom cymbals are aligned on the hi-hat stand: the small round marks (dots) on the edge of each cymbal should line up while playing.
