The Roland FP-40 receives MIDI data on all 16 channels. To select and play an FP-40 tone from a DAW, MIDI-compatible mobile app, or MIDI controller, perform the following operations:
- Set the SMF Play Mode to “Internal”: Hold down the [Function] button and press the A#1 key.
- Send Bank Select (CC00, CC32) and Program Change messages from an external MIDI device via MIDI Channel 4.
For the bank select and program change numbers corresponding to each tone, refer to the “FP-40 MIDI Sound List”.
Note: On all other MIDI channels, only GM2 tones will play.
