Setting up the TR-808 software rhythm composer as a multi-out plugin in Pro Tools allows the user to layout each of the drum parts on separate tracks.
- Click on "Inserts A-E" and load the TR-808 onto a MIDI track by selecting. "multichannel plug-in > Roland Cloud > TR-808."

In the TR-808 plugin
Click the "Option" button on the TR-808 GUI and select "Sub Output.." from the drop-down menu.
- Click on all shown drum buttons BASS DRUM, SNARE DRUM, etc.. so that they turn red and are active.

In Pro Tools
Go to, Track > New in the Pro Tools menu, then enter the following information in the fields of the New Track dialogue box:
- Create: 11
- new: Stereo
- Instrument Track
- in: Ticks
- Name: TR-808 (You can change the names of each individual drum track once you create them if you’d like)
- Click on the Window View Selector Editor icon and make sure that "Instrument" is checked.
- Under the "Instrument" section for the “TR-808 1” track, click on the "MIDI Output selector" and select plug-in > TR-808 - TR-808-1.
- Next, do the same thing for the remainder of the 10 TR-808 tracks.
- Click on the Audio Input Path Selector and choose plug-in > TR-808 - Insert a - Sub Output 1
- Next do the same thing in numerical order for the remainder of the 10 TR-808 tracks. TR-808 2 “plug-in > TR-808 - Insert a - Sub Output 2" etc..
- If you'd like to record MIDI separately on each of the TR-808 drum tracks, it'll be necessary to turn off "Position Lock to DAW" in the Option menu. Otherwise, the MIDI notes will be played from within the TR-808's drum sequencer and will be synced with the playback of the DAW.
You're now setup to use the Roland Cloud TR-808 as a multi-out rhythm composer in ProTools! Enjoy!
