Follow the steps below to update the system program of your TB-3.
- To check the current version, refer to the related article: "How to Check the Version".
- Turn off the power of the TB-3.
- Access the following page to download and extract the latest system program.
https://www.roland.com/global/products/tb-3/downloads/ - While holding down the [KEYBOARD] and [PTN SELECT] buttons, turn on the power.
The KEYBOARD, XY PLAY, ENV MOD, PTN SELECT, SCATTER, STEP REC, REALTIME REC, and [▶/■] buttons will start flashing. - Connect the TB-3 to your computer using a USB cable.
The TB-3 will be recognized as an external drive. (Depending on your computer settings, the external drive may not appear automatically.) - Copy the TB3_UPD.BIN file from the extracted folder (from Step 2) to the TB-3 drive.
- After the copy is complete, safely eject the TB-3 drive.
- Windows: Windows: Follow the official Microsoft guide for safely removing USB devices.
- macOS: Drag the TB-3 drive icon to the Trash or right-click the drive and select "Eject."
- Disconnect the USB cable.
The XY PLAY button will light up. - Press the [XY PLAY] button.
The update will begin.
CAUTION: Never power-off your TB-3 while the update is in progress!
The C pad (right side) will light up, and the following buttons will start flashing:
KEYBOARD, XY PLAY, ENV MOD, PTN SELECT, SCATTER, STEP REC, REALTIME REC, ▶/■, -OCT, +OCT, CLEAR/REST, ACCENT, SLIDE, SLIDE/TIE.
When these buttons are flashing, the update is complete. - Turn off the power of the TB-3.
