The P-6 has the two types of quantize functions, with the differences as follows:
Rec Quantize
If you press the [●] (QUANTIZE) button while holding down the [SHIFT] button, you can do real-time input while the data is being quantized. The display indicates “On.” When doing this, the timing of the notes you input in real time is aligned to the steps as you’re recording (the micro-timings of the notes are recorded as “0”).
NOTE: The "Quantize Timing" parameter under MENU does not apply to Rec Quantize.
Play Quantize
This enables or disables the sample pad quantize settings that are used when a pattern is played. You can also set the timing with the Quantize Timing parameter to determine whether the note is aligned to the current step or the next step. This parameter is applied to the currently selected pattern and can be saved for each pattern. For detailed information about the Quantize Timing settings, please refer to the "MENU list" section of the P-6 Owner's Manual.
