P-6: How to restore to factory settings

When you perform a factory reset, all of the sample data and patterns stored in the P-6 are deleted. If you want to restore the internal sample data and patterns that originally came with the P-6 when shipped from the factory, download the factory data from our website. The procedure for restoring differs depending on the sample and pattern. Please perform either or both of these operations as necessary.

Loading samples (Import)

1. Download the factory data "P-6 Sample Data / Patterns" from https://www.roland.com/global/products/p-6/downloads/ and extract it.
2. Connect your computer to the P-6’s USB port via USB cable.
   * Please use a USB cable that supports data transfer.
   
3. While holding down the [SAMPLING] button, turn on the power.
   
4. Open the “P-6” drive on your computer.
5. Open the downloaded folder, and copy the “BANK_A” - “BANK_D” folder files into the IMPORT folder.

   

   * When copying, a confirmation screen may be displayed.
6. Once copying is finished, eject the “P-6” drive from your computer.

   OS	Operation
   Windows 11/10/8/7	Right-click on the "P-6" icon and click "Eject".
   macOS	Drag the "P-6" icon to the Trash icon in the Dock.

7. Press the [KYBD] button.
   
   The sample is imported.
   It may take some time to load many samples.
   The step buttons light up to show the progress.
8. Once you see the message “donE”, turn off the P-6.
9. While holding down the [SAMPLING] button, turn on the power.
10. Open the “P-6” drive on your computer.
11. Copy the “BANK_E” - “BANK_H” folder files into the IMPORT folder.
    * Please refer to step 4-5.
    
12. Once copying is finished, eject the “P-6” drive from your computer.
    * Please refer to step 6.
13. Press the [KYBD] button.
    The sample is imported. MEMO:
    • It may take some time to load many samples.
    • The step buttons light up to show the progress.
    • Data that exceeds the size of the sample pads is truncated.
14. Once you see the message “donE”, turn off the P-6.

Restoring the patterns (Restore)

1. Connect your computer to the P-6’s USB port via USB cable.
   * Please use a USB cable that supports data transfer.
2. While holding down the [●] (REC) button, turn on the power.
   
3. Open the “P-6” drive on your computer.
4. Open the downloaded folder, then copy the pattern files (P6_PTN1-01.PRM – P6_PTN4-16.PRM) saved on your computer to the “RESTORE” folder of the “P-6” drive.
   Alternatively, you can replace the existing “RESTORE” folder on the P-6 drive with the downloaded one.
   
   When copying, a confirmation screen may be displayed.
5. Once copying is finished, eject the “P-6” drive from your computer.

   OS	Operation
   Windows 11/10/8/7	Right-click on the "P-6" icon and click "Eject".
   macOS	Drag the "P-6" icon to the Trash icon in the Dock.

6. Press the [KYBD] button.
   
   This restores the patterns.
   If there are many patterns to restore, the operation may take around five minutes.
   The step buttons light up to show the progress.
7. Once you see the message “donE”, turn off the P-6.
