What is Sync Delay?
Sync Delay is designed to compensate for timing discrepancies (latency) when the TR-1000 is externally synchronized to another device. It shifts the sequencer clock timing forward or backward, ensuring that your patterns stay in time with the MIDI clock source.
This setting works in both All Tracks and Layered Gens track sync modes.
Range:
-100 … 0 … +100
(negative values shift later, positive values shift earlier)
| Sync Delay | -100 - 0- +100 | Shifts the sequencer clock timing forwards or backwards. This is useful for manually compensating for latency caused by the All Tracks setting in Track Sync or other circumstances caused by external syncing. |
When to Use Sync Delay
- When the TR-1000 is not the MIDI clock source and is receiving clock from an external sequencer or DAW.
- To manually compensate for latency caused by external sync.
Basic Setup Steps
- Connect the TR-1000 to the MIDI clock source via MIDI or USB.
- Start playback on the external sequencer or MIDI clock source.
- On the TR-1000, go to:
Menu → Project Settings → Sync Delay - Adjust the Sync Delay value until the TR-1000 sequence aligns perfectly with the external clock.
- Typical values:
- Layered Gens: ~+6
- All Tracks: ~+50
- Typical values:
- Exit Project Settings and WRITE the setting when prompted to save changes.
Important Notes
- The Sync Delay range is bipolar to accommodate unusual clock behavior, but in most cases, only small positive adjustments are needed.
- Always reset Sync Delay to 0 when the TR-1000 is acting as the MIDI clock source to prevent timing offsets.
- The Sync Delay function remains active even when the TR-1000 is set as the MIDI clock source.
