If a Preset pattern or a Variation pattern is selected, it is not possible to
modify, edit or store settings. Trying to do so will result in an "Error 8"
message. To edit a Preset pattern, its contents must first be copied to a User
pattern (see Copying Patterns on the MC-303). Variation patterns cannot be
