SP-404MK2: How do I sync the SP-404MK2 with the SH-4d?

The SP-404MK2 and SH-4d can be connected via MIDI to synchronize playback tempo and pattern start/stop.

Synchronizing the timing of the SP-404MK2 to the SH-4d

1. Connect the MIDI IN jack of the SP-404MK2 to the MIDI OUT jack of the SH-4d using a MIDI cable (BMIDI-1-35, BMIDI-2-35, BMIDI-1-35).
   
    
2. Settings on the SP-404mk2:
   1. Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press the pad [13].
      The UTILITY screen appears.
   2. Use the [VALUE] knob to select “SYSTEM”, and press the [VALUE] knob to enter the menu.
   3. Turn the [CTRL 3] knob to select the “MIDI” tab.
   4. Use the [VALUE] knob to select "MIDI Sync", and press the [VALUE] knob to enter.
   5. Use the [VALUE] knob to select "Auto" or "MIDI".
3. Settings on the SH-4d
   1. Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press the [16] button.
      The MENU screen appears.
   2. Select [SYSTEM SETTINGS], and then press the [ENTER] button.
      The SYSTEM SETTINGS screen appears.
   3. Turn the [1] knob to move the cursor to "Tempo Src" under TEMPO/SYNC, and turn the [2] knob to select "PATTERN".
   4. Turn the [1] knob to move the cursor to "Sync Mode", and turn the [2] knob to select "INT".
   5. Turn the [1] knob to move the cursor to "Sync Out", turn the [2] knob and select "MIDI".
4. Press the [PATTERN SELECT] button on the SP-404MK2.
5. Select a pattern on the SH-4d and press the [START] button.
   Check if the pattern of the SP-404MK2 starts to play.

4. Press the [PATTERN SELECT] button on the SP-404MK2.
5. Select and playback a pattern on the SP-404MK2.
6. Check if the pattern of the SH-4d starts to play.
