The factory samples and patterns assigned to the SP-404A at the factory can be downloaded from Roland official site and loaded onto an SD card to restore them. If you've accidentally erased the factory data, or lost the included SD card, use the following method to restore it.
Note: This operation overwrites the existing sample and pattern data on the unit. Back up any data you want to keep before performing this operation.
What you'll need:
- SP-404A
- SD/SDHC card formatted on the SP-404A

If your computer doesn't have an SD card slot, you'll also need a commercially available card reader.
Steps:
- While holding down [CANCEL], turn on the power to cancel all protection, then switch off the power.
The display will indicate "P.oF." - Download the "SP-404A factory installed data in the included SD Card" from SP-404A Factory Data, and extract the file.
- Open the extracted folder, and copy the "FCTRY" folder to the root directory (the top level) of the SD card.
- With the SP-404A's power off, insert the SD card.
- While holding down [CANCEL], [REMAIN], and [DEL], turn on the power.
The display will indicate “ini,” and the [REC] button will blink. - Press [REC] to load the data.
