Here's how to update the system program firmware for the MC-707.
Details about the changes can be found in the “UPDATE HISTORY” section of the MC-707 System Program download page.
Before you start, check the system program version of your MC-707. When the power to the MC-707 is turned on, the title screen appears on the display.
The current version is displayed at the bottom right of the title screen.
* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.
WHAT YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR MC-707
- MC-707
- A computer with a SD Card Slot ( Windows, Mac )
- SD Card formatted on the MC-707

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
- Never apply this update data to any product other than the MC-707. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never power-off your MC-707 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the MC-707 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. - We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
- You must not rename the extracted file.
- Never turn off the MC-707's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the MC-707 itself may be destroyed.
Please install the extracted system program file into your MC-707 according to the following procedure.
* For information on "Returning to the Factory Settings" procedures, refer to Owner's Manual.
STEP 1: Updating the MC-707 System Program
- Download the "MC707_UPA_up.bin" from this page to your computer.
- Copy the "MC707_UPA_up.bin" file to the root folder of the SD card.
* If you're using a new SD card, format it on the MC-707 first. - Safely remove the SD card from your computer and carefully insert it into the MC-707.
- With the unit switched off, hold down the [SHIFT] button and turn the MC-707 on. The update will then start.
- The message "Complete!!" will appear on the display once the update process is complete.
- Restart the unit.
Following an update, the message "Upd Sub Cpu" sometimes appears.
If this is the case, wait until the message "Complete!!" appears and then restart the unit.
STEP 2: Returning to the Factory Settings
* Performing the procedure in "Returning to the Factory Settings (Factory Reset) initializes the "System Settings" items.
- Hold down the [SHIFT] button and press the [KNOB ASSIGN] button to display the UTILITY screen.
- Use the cursor buttons to select "FACTORY RESET," then press the [ENTER] button.
A confirmation message appears. - To execute, use the [VALUE] dial to select "OK," and press the [ENTER] button.
- When the display indicates "Please power off." turn the MC-707's power off and on again.
