TR-1000: System Program Version Update

Keep your TR-1000 up to date to ensure the best performance and access to the latest features. Details about the changes can be found in the “UPDATE HISTORY” section of the System Program download page.

Check the current version

1. Press the [MENU] button.
   The MENU screen appears.
2. Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “UTILITY”, and press the [ENTER] button.
   
3. Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “INFO”, and press the [ENTER] button.
   
   The current version number is shown in the display.

There are two ways to update the system program of the TR-1000:

• Connect with the dedicated app (TR-1000 APP)
• Connect to a computer (Windows, Mac) 

Important: 
The system program update process includes a factory reset. Be sure to back up your current settings in advance so you can restore them afterward. You can use any of the backup methods described in “TR-1000: Back up and restore data”, but to minimize the risk of data loss due to unexpected issues, it is recommended to back up to a USB flash drive.

What you need for the update

• TR-1000 unit
• USB cable (Included)
• USB flash drive (for backup)
• (Optional) TR-1000 APP

Update using the TR-1000 APP

1. Install TR-1000 APP and connect TR-1000.
   Note: If you see the following message when you launch the app, download the latest version of the app or update the firmware.
   
2. Click the bell icon in the top-right corner of the app.
   
3. Click “Download & Update”.
   
   A progress bar appears and advances, and a message is shown.
   
4. On TR-1000, use the [C6/VALUE] to select “OK”, then press the [ENTER] button. 
   Example:
   
   The progress bar advances.
5. When “Completed. Turn off power.” appears, turn the power off.
6. Perform a Factory Reset.
   For the procedure, see “Returning to the factory settings (FACTORY RESET)”.

7. Restore your backup data.

    

Update using a computer

Downloading and unarchiving the compressed file

1. Download the TR-1000 System Program. 
   https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/tr-1000/updates_drivers/
2. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the download page and select the "I AGREE..." check box.
3. Click the "Download File" button to download the system program (tr1000_sys_vXXX*.zip).
   *XXX=Version number
   Note: Never double-click the files displayed inside the folder after unarchiving or changing the file name.
4. Copy “TR1000_UPDATER.bin” from the extracted folder to the root directory (top level) of the USB flash drive.

Install the update-file

1. Connect the USB flash drive to the USB EXTERNAL DEVICE port.
2. Press the [MENU] button.
   The MENU screen appears.
3. Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “UTILITY”, and press the [ENTER] button.
   
4. Select “INFO” with the [C6/VALUE] knob, and press the [ENTER] button.
   
5. Use the [C6/VALUE] to select “OK”, then press the [ENTER] button.
   The progress bar advances.
6. When “Completed. Turn off power.” appears, turn the power off.
7. Perform a Factory Reset.

8. Restore your backup data.
