The TR-1000 can back up its settings to the following locations:
- A commercially available USB flash drive
*For compatible USB flash drives and how to format them, see "What kind of USB flash drives can I use?". - The internal memory
- A computer by using the TR-1000 App
Important:
When performing a system program update, note that the update procedure includes a factory reset. Be sure to back up your current settings in advance so you can restore them afterward. You can use any of the backup methods described here, but to minimize the risk of data loss due to unexpected issues, it is recommended to back up to a USB flash drive.

Follow the steps below.
Back up to a USB flash drive or the internal memory
- Press the [MENU] button so it’s lit.
The MENU screen appears. - Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “FILE”, and press the [ENTER] button.
- Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “BACKUP”, and press the [ENTER] button.
- Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select the save destination for the backup file.
Select “INTERNAL” or “USB EXTERNAL”. - Set a name for the backup file.
Use the [C3/SCROLL] knob to move the cursor, the [C6/VALUE] knob to change the character, and the [ENTER] button to confirm. - When you have finished entering the name, press the [ENTER] button.
A confirmation message appears. -
Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “OK”, and press the [ENTER] button.
To cancel, use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “CANCEL”, and press the [ENTER] button.Note: A backup typically takes about 20 minutes. However, if the amount of user sample data is large, it may take up to approximately 28 hours.
Back up to a computer using the TR-1000 App
- Connect the TR-1000 to your computer, and start the TR-1000 App.
For details on how to install the TR-1000 App, refer to "TR-1000: How do I download, install, and start the TR-1000 App?". - Click the ≡ (MENU) icon at the upper right of the screen.
- Click "Transfer Backup".

Click the .bin file you want to back up, select "To PC", and then click the [Transfer] button.
A progress bar appears, and the backup begins.
Restore from a USB flash drive or the internal memory

- Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select the backup file.
- Press the [ENTER] button.
A confirmation message appears. - Use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “OK”, and press the [ENTER] button.
To cancel, use the [C6/VALUE] knob to select “CANCEL”, and press the [ENTER] button.
Restore from a computer using the TR-1000 App
- Connect the TR-1000 to your computer, and start the TR-1000 App.
- Click the ≡ icon at the upper right of the screen.
- Click "Transfer Backup".
- Click "To TR-1000".
- Click "…" > "BACKUP" in order.
- Select the .bin file you want to restore, and click [Open] > [Transfer].
A progress bar appears, and the restore process begins.
